CUNA Releases Paper Examining the Credit Union Difference
CUNA has released a paper on the results of their 2022 National Voter Poll, which confirms that credit union members have greater levels of financial resilience than nonmembers. The poll examined how credit union members and nonmembers feel about their financial institution and if they believe their institution is looking out for them.
Raffle Legislation Signed by Governor Mills
The Governor recently signed into law a bill that addresses online payments for charitable raffles. The updated law clarifies that an online payment system does not make an in-person raffle an “internet raffle,” which is subject to strict regulation by the state’s Gambling Control Unit.
Interchange and the SAFE Banking Act Grab Washington's Focus
While the halls of the State House are quieting down, important credit union issues are heating up in Congress. On May 4, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a public hearing on interchange fees. Another federal advocacy priority is back in the news: the SAFE Banking Act. It has been reported that there is a significant effort to tie the SAFE Banking Act to a “must-pass” bill in the U.S. Senate.

Maine State CU Feed ME 5K Raises Over $48,000 to Fight Hunger
Maine State CU is excited to announce that their annual Feed ME 5K walk to end hunger in Maine raised over $48,000. The event, which took place on April 23, was the first in-person walk since 2019.

The April 2022 CU Trends Report is now available. This monthly report, published and distributed by CUNA Mutual Group’s Director and Chief Economist Steven Rick, provides a review and analysis of recent credit union financial performance and operational results. It includes data from February.
