Maine State CU is excited to announce that their annual Feed ME 5K walk to end hunger in Maine raised over $48,000. The event, which took place on April 23, was the first in-person walk since 2019. For the past two years, Maine State CU has coordinated virtual events due to the pandemic.

“It was so nice to see everyone in person and the smiles on their faces,” said Stacey Dow, Co-Chair of Social Responsibility at Maine State CU. “We had over 100 people walk with us in person this year. It is nice to be back after having to make it a virtual event for the past couple of years.”

The in-person Feed ME 5K also kicked off a month-long virtual walking event to raise money to end hunger. People who are interested in participating in the credit union’s virtual walk can register online until May 31.

Maine State CU raises money all year long for Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. This year, the credit union hopes to raise over $100,000. Proceeds from the 5K and other events go back into the credit union’s local communities to fund backpack programs, meals on wheels, and food pantries.
