Cooperation Works
- Maine credit unions contributed $1,221,868.94 to end hunger in 2023 and supported 280 organizations across Maine, including local food pantries, meal sites, and schools.
- The Campaign is the signature social responsibility campaign for Maine’s credit unions. 100% of all funds raised by the Campaign stay in the state.
- The initiative is the largest, non-hunger organization-based, philanthropic fundraising effort to end hunger in Maine.

2023 Campaign Highlights
- $7,420 worth of food collected and donated.
- The Annual Ending Hunger Golf Tournament and Silent Auction combined raised over $74,000 for the Campaign—the auction alone more than doubling its previous high total, bringing in just over $8,000.
- Good Shepherd Food Bank received $116,941 from credit unions and the Campaign—$42,429.81 just in June from the $100,000 Challenge.
- We hit a remarkable milestone with the Food Bank. The Campaign, the League, and Synergent have now raised over $1 million for Good Shepherd Food Bank, making our combined entities its 12th largest donor.
- Over $26,000 in financial support to help local schools and Full Plates Full Potential feed students during the summer months.
- The Campaign for Ending Hunger Feed the First initiative raised nearly $36,000 to feed first responders and other community organizations that were working to get food in the hands of those in need in the wake of the October shootings in Lewiston.
The top seven credit unions in terms of dollars contributed to end hunger in Maine and per member contributions are annually recognized. Atlantic Federal Credit Union was the top credit union fundraiser in 2023, contributing $147,799.12 to combat hunger in the state. Gardiner Federal Credit Union had the highest per member contributions at $4.65 per member.
