2025 Ending Hunger $100,000 Challenge

Accept Our Challenge This October

This October, the League is bringing back the $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge. By joining in, your credit union—and your members—can help us raise $100,000 in just one month to support Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.

October Challenge Celebrates Collaboration and Cooperation

The Challenge is a powerful way to engage your community while showcasing the credit union difference. Together, we can create meaningful change for neighbors in need.

We invite you to support this important fundraising effort by donating to the Campaign and/or coordinating a fundraiser at your credit union. As we have done in years past, 25% percent of funds raised online during the Challenge will benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank.

This October, as we celebrate International Credit Union Day and CU Kind Day, we have an opportunity to unite and raise awareness to end hunger in Maine.

  • CU Kind Day | October 13: Offers a chance to foster generosity, goodwill, and well-being for those we serve.
  • International Credit Union Day | October 16: Showcases our industry’s collective efforts to address food insecurity in Maine.

We hope your credit union will join us and use this as an opportunity to boost your credit union’s fundraising for the Campaign.

Maine Credit Unions’ annual $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge is back with one goal: to raise $100,000 in just 31 days. With the recent federal funding cuts to crucial community supports like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and food banks and pantries, hunger relief organizations are facing increasing challenges in keeping up with the demand for healthy and nutritious food. For just $5, you can help provide 10 meals to hungry neighbors in need today at campaignforendinghunger.org/donate

Post #8:

Due to higher costs of living and federal funding cuts to programs that support hunger relief organizations, food banks and pantries are seeing an increase in demand for food assistance but are struggling to maintain an adequate supply, with many pantries seeing more than a 20% increase in both visits and households served from 2023 to 2024. Hunger is a harsh reality 13.8% of Mainers are facing, and it poses an enormous challenge for their overall wellbeing. Increased food costs and living expenses are not helping—but you can. Accept Maine Credit Unions’ $100,000 Challenge and provide meals for your neighbors in need today at campaignforendinghunger.org/donate
