CU Marketing Council to Host Last Virtual Workshop of 2021
The Maine CU Marketing Council will be hosting a virtual lunch and learn session on Tuesday, October 19, from 11:30 am-12:30 pm featuring Marnie Grumbach, Emily Broadbent, and Becky Gauthier of fluent imc, an integrated marketing communications agency. This event will be the last workshop held this year.
TruChoice FCU and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine Employees FCU Announce Plans to Merge
TruChoice FCU and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine Employees (BCBSME) FCU have announced their intent to merge, subject to NCUA and member approval. It is anticipated that the proposed merger will occur in early 2022.
Grassroots Advocacy Helps in Ongoing IRS Reporting Fight
The League has been closely monitoring a proposal before Congress that would require financial institutions to report deposits and withdrawals of all business and personal accounts with a balance of more than $600 to the IRS. Earlier this week, the proposed measure was not included in a bill that was reported out of the House Ways and Means Committee.
CUNA Mutual Group Releases Fall 2021 Report and Announces CDFI Certification Resources
CUNA Mutual Group has released its Fall 2021 Report for credit unions. This timely report can be shared at chapter and credit union meetings. In addition, CUNA Mutual Group has announced new resources to help credit unions with their Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certification.

Five County CU Gives Back to First Responders
To help commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Five County CU wanted to do something special for our local first responders. The credit union created “First Responder Survival Kits” and delivered them to sheriff’s departments, police and fire stations, and ambulance service centers in 14 communities as a way to say thank you for their service.
NCUA's Q2 2021 State Credit Union Data Report Now Available
Federally insured credit unions experienced strong asset and share-and-deposit growth over the year ending in the second quarter of 2021, according to the latest NCUA Quarterly U.S. Map Review. The NCUA’s analysis tracks performance indicators for federally insured credit unions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and includes information on two important state-level economic indicators: the unemployment rate and home prices.
