To help credit unions better reach their membership with outreach efforts, the League is inviting those with a passion for financial education to the Financial Literacy Conference on August 20 at the Credit Union Service Center in Westbrook, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. This event will be open to any credit union employee. Registrants may be placed on a waiting list if the number of individuals interested in attending is greater than the number of seats available. A continental breakfast will be provided.

Speakers and Topics:

Lee Silber – Generation We: Reaching and Teaching Each Generation

With over 30 years of experience helping people achieve and exceed their goals, Lee Silber knows what he’s talking about and walks his talk when it comes to personal and professional growth. He is an international speaker and award-winning author. His session will focus on how each generation learns differently and has divergent goals. His program will address the best ways to reach and teach each generation about financial literacy with specific tips and techniques. With an emphasis on Gen-Y and Gen-Z, Silber will examine best practices for each individual generation and discuss what works for all generations. This is a lively, fun, and activity-filled program with unique ideas and information attendees can use right away for improved results.

Mary Dyer – FAME and Maine Jump$tart

Mary Dyer is the Financial Education Program Manager at the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) and President of Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. She will speak about programs, resources, and opportunities for collaboration with credit unions. Dyer will also discuss the innovative, flexible solutions that address the needs of Maine individuals and organizations in a changing economic landscape.
