Maine Savings FCU is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer at its Bangor location.
Maine Savings FCU has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mortgage Loan Officer reporting directly to our Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending. This position will serve the greater Bangor area.
Job Summary:
Among other responsibilities, the successful candidates will:
- Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet credit union and governmental standards. Approve or reject loan application, or request additional information. Establish terms and conditions of an approved loan and review with member.
- Cross-sell other credit union services.
- Develop relationships with the Real Estate Broker community to create a network of contacts and referral sources.
- Actively solicit opportunities to provide all types of government loans including FHA, Rural Development, VA, MSHA, etc.
- Interview loan applicants to record income, debt and credit history and requests appropriate documentation to verify the accuracy of information provided, including tax returns, bank accounts, purchase agreements, and property descriptions, and other required documents.
- Determine if the applicant meets credit union standards for further consideration and/or calls applicant or other person(s) to resolve discrepancies. Informs the applicant of closing costs, such as appraisal, credit report, and notary fees. Answers applicant’s questions and asks for signature on information authorization forms.
Skills/Qualifications
- Five to ten years of similar or related experience
- Superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage residential real estate lending
- Proficiency in all MS Office applications
Education
- A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
- Required to have or attain the NMLS registration.
