Midcoast FCU is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer for its Bath/mid-coast region.
Midcoast is seeking a Mortgage Loan Officer to proactively be responsible for originating residential mortgages, home equity, and consumer loans while maintaining a thorough understanding of lending processes and regulations. This role serves as the primary contact for business lending solutions, working closely with vendor partners to originate first mortgages and business loans, enhance offerings, and drive growth. The Mortgage Loan Officer fosters collaborative partnerships internally and externally to maximize lending opportunities by proactively soliciting new business through community involvement and networking with centers of influence, including real estate brokers and closing attorneys, to develop strong relationships and expand opportunities. This is a hybrid position based out of the Bath branch; however, the Mortgage Loan Officer will support all five credit union locations: Freeport, Brunswick, Bath, Edgecomb and Thomaston, and will be expected to report to all as needed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Ensures complete and accurate mortgage and home equity and consumer loan packages are submitted to CUSO or through Origence to the underwriters within established time frames and compliance requirements. Completes all necessary reports and performs file maintenance to update records as required.
- Participates in developing consumer lending business for the credit union. Calls on members to expand existing relationships; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the credit union’s member base.
- Participates in developing lending and deposit business for credit union partnering with CUSO and BLS. Identifies opportunities to cross-sell new and/or additional products or services.
- Stays abreast of new types of mortgage loans and lending trends, rules and regulations, market conditions and factors, and other financial services and products to better meet members’ needs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience – Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
- Education – (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
- Interpersonal Skills – Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. The role requires a significant level of trust or diplomacy.
Other Skills:
Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing member and personal services. This includes member needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of member satisfaction. Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and chooses the most appropriate one. Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively. Must have the ability to operate all require office equipment and technology.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to use a keyboard and 10 key functions for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift and carry 25 lbs on occasion. Work Environment This is a hybrid position with some in-office work required. The ability to report to a designated branch location as needed is expected.
