Commercial Credit Analyst


NorState FCU is hiring a Commercial Credit Analyst for either its Madawaska or Presque Isle location.

Job Description:

Reports To: Vice President Commercial Services

Role: The Commercial Credit Analyst plays a key role in helping the credit union maintain adequate credit quality in the loan portfolio. The analyst works with loan officers to assess creditworthiness and risk of business borrowers through analysis of their financial data (financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, credit reports, business plans, projections, etc.) and makes recommendations regarding extension of credit and terms and conditions of repayment. This position is further responsible for monitoring activities relating to portfolio management to include obtaining periodic financial statements, maintaining accurate risk ratings on each borrower, and preparing for credit reviews. The individual may work directly with borrowers to understand any changes in their financial condition, identifying additional borrowing opportunities or signs of potential concern.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Credit Analysis: Works with Loan Officers Gathers/Analyzes financial statements (business and personal) along with collateral records. Determines key lending ratios including debt service coverage, cash flow and loan-to-value indicators. Summarizes risks and mitigants, as applicable and germane to the size and complexity of the transaction and prepares and/or reviews narratives for incorporation into lending presentations. Gathers/Verifies information from credit bureau reporting services to assess relationship credit standing. May assist in obtaining Collateral values. Recommends loan structures when appropriate. Independently researches and gathers industry data from various sources applicable. Files loan documents with appropriate agencies or partnering lenders. Utilizes commercial underwriting and administration software platform.
  2. Portfolio Management: Oversees annual review process for the credit union in assessing overall credit quality. Obtains and reviews periodic financial statements, maintaining accurate risk ratings on each relationship. Prepares for internal and external credit reviews by auditors or examiners. Maintains organized and up-to-date borrower files including current financial information and all loan documentation. Performs loan reviews as assigned. Assists with the renewal or modification of credit line or maturing loans.
  3. Learns and applies credit union loan policies and procedures and their impact on risk management transactions. Implement new loan products and services in accordance with management direction.
  4. Assists in preparing loan documents. May assist lenders in collection or workout of past due or matured loans.
  5. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $19.92 per hour and negotiable based on experience

Expected Hours: 40 per week
