We are looking to add an Accounting Specialist II to our dynamic team of accounting professionals! The Accounting Specialist take initiative working independently while following established policies and procedures. Supporting accounting team members in critical daily operations of the department, which includes various reconciliations. Carry out internal controls of accounting systems, financial reports and, for safeguarding of assets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Complete tasks in our accounting department, including balancing ATM/ITM/ACH transactions, managing check clearing, daily financial reporting, shared branching, wire transfers, and investments. You’ll also handle Foundation, Atlantic Insurance, Atlantic Financial Services, CUSO, BLS, and other duties related to maintaining Atlantic’s financial records to high standards.
  • Assists with accounts payable when needed. Processes approved invoices and submits ACH/checks to vendors. Communicates with vendors and co-workers about invoices as needed. Maintains vendor data, obtains W-9s, and prepares 1099s. Analyzes accounts and reports discrepancies to supervisor after initial problem-solving. Assist with Federal, State, and Local Reporting, including property tax, Call Report, and 945 Reporting.
  • Reconcile various general ledgers and due from bank accounts daily/monthly and or quarterly. Research outstanding items, interact with co-workers to resolve discrepancies and post corrected entries.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit, NCUA Examiners and comprehensive internal audits. Assist with the creation and maintenance of procedural documentation.
  • Abandoned property corporate checks. Help control operating expenses and implement cost containment strategies. Recommend cost reductions. Assist with the operating expense budget. Cross-train in other accounting functions for support and backup. Maintain accounting system. Train on relevant job functions

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of similar or related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or achievement of formal certification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience within credit unions or banking institutions preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite strongly preferred. Excel experience required.
