Human Resources Generalist


Saco Valley CU is hiring a Human Resources Generalist at its Saco location.

Description:

Saco Valley CU, a 2024 Best Place to Work in ME, has re-opened their search for an HR Generalist. While a large portion of this role is being responsible for payroll and benefits, this role will also be responsible for recruiting & onboarding, employee relations & performance, and HR compliance and training. This is a full-time, hourly position. Starting pay is commensurate with experience.

Requirements:
  • Manage recruitment using Paylocity; including job postings, screening, interviewing, background and reference checks, collaborating with department heads in making hiring decisions, and preparing employment offers. Conduct exit interviews.
  • Manage credit union’s compensation; prepare time and attendance records, input payroll and review output. Maintain benefit hourly records for each employee.
  • Facilitate new employee orientation and onboarding. Assist in the management of existing employee performance, performance reviews and performance improvement plans.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision and group life insurance, STD/LTD, retirement plans, and other benefits. Consult with and advise employees on their eligibility for these and other related benefits. Maintain benefits records and documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage. Maintain and distribute plan documents and employee communications relating to benefits. Recommend changes or additions to the program to reflect employee and organization’s needs. Assure compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs and prepare and file required legal reports.
  • Ensure the credit union complies with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Analyze trends in HR data and provide recommendations of improvement to Leadership Team.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

We Are Seeking a Candidate With:

  • 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist
  • Bachelor’s degree or formal certifications (SHRM-CP, PHP or SPHR)
  • Experience with payroll administration
  • Ability to travel between branches during the workday
  • Administer benefit programs as well as consult and advise employees
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee files and related items
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiar with state and federal laws
  • Strong analytical, policy development, and implementation experience
