Maine Savings FCU is hiring a Commercial Lending Assistant at its Hampden location.

Maine Savings is hiring for a Commercial Lending Assistant to support the Maine Savings Commercial Lending team by facilitating the preparation, processing, and after-closing-servicing of commercial loans. This position will be responsible for the timely and accurate production of all types of commercial loan documentation, including but not limited to large, complex credits and participations; additional responsibilities also include ensuring credits are documented in accordance with loan approvals, loan policy and applicable laws and regulations. The Commercial Lending Assistant will have the ability to effectively communicate with members and other credit union departments as required.

  • Serves as primary support for commercial lenders, including but not limited to preparation/composition of written correspondence and memos, as requested by Commercial Lenders. Prepares all documents needed for loan approvals and denials.
  • Coordinates loan closings with title companies and real estate agencies. Ensures documents returned from applicable agencies are complete and accurate. Assists commercial lender in clearing any post-closing documentation exceptions.
  • Resolves member inquiries within prescribed authority, and when necessary, directs calls to the appropriate loan representative or department.
  • Obtains information related to the commercial loan origination process including but not limited to: preliminary title reports, member identification verifications, UCC searches, insurance information, flood certificates and various other items. Monitors cancelled insurance policies and initiates timely follow-up with appropriate parties.
  • Prepares appropriate business loan disbursement entries (checks, deposits, wire transfers, etc.,), according to loan disbursement instructions provided by Commercial Lender.
  • Assembles and maintains loan documentation files to ensure proper order and accuracy of documents, verifying all documents have been property executed and recorded. Responsible for imaging and retaining original loan documentation.
  • Prepares reports for the Lending Committee meetings and Board of Director meetings; generates and maintains various reports related to commercial lending activities, portfolio performance, updating loan status in WIP.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum of three to five years of similar or related experience, plus a strong understanding of the commercial lending process, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance. This position requires courtesy and tact, as well as solid written and oral communication skills. Work involves exposure to much sensitive and confidential information with others inside and outside the credit union for purposes of obtaining/delivering information and building relationships. Must work well in a team environment, have the ability to multi-task, negotiate, and possess strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in all applications of the Microsoft Office Suite, loan processing systems (such as Episys, Meridian Link, and Abrigo), as well as excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
