With GAC over, focus now turns to CU Day at the State House

After a very successful trip to CUNA's GAC including interactions with each member of Maine's Congressional Delegation and their staffs, record attendance and cooperation with others from the CU System, the Maine CU League now turns its attention to its largest, in-state advocacy event - Maine CU Day at the State House.  This year's event has been expanded to offer more opportunities to attend, and a greater likelihood of connecting with legislators.  It will take place on Thursday, March 15, from 8 a.m. - Noon, in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta.

"Our goal is to have every credit union represented at this year's event and to have as much of the state represented through our group.  Legislators look forward to connecting with their local credit unions so this new timeframe should make it easier to do so.  It also enables credit union representatives a greater period of time within which to attend.  We understand early morning might work better for some, while late morning fits other's schedules.  Having CU Day the entire morning creates more flexibility," remarked Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Maine CU League.

Baldacci said attendees will not only have an opportunity to interact with legislators but also watch the House and/or the Senate in action.  "It's a great experience to see government in action.  We hope to have a large group watching from both the House and Senate chambers when credit unions are recognized with a Joint Resolution.  Being visible to legislators makes a difference and reinforces our strength as a group."

To best coordinate connections with legislators, all attendees are asked to register with an approximate time they will be attending.  Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided.  Register now by clicking here; download a registration form; or email Elise Baldacci.
