"Visibility, expertise," highlight first Job Shadow of Legislative Session

"Our first job shadow of the 2018 Legislative Session had multiple benefits including providing CUs with great visibility with legislators, as well as providing expertise on a piece of legislation of great interest to your League and Maine's credit unions," stated Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Maine CU League, speaking about Sandy Cloutier, Chief Risk Officer at Infinity FCU, spending this past Tuesday in Augusta job shadowing a legislator.

Cloutier, who has job shadowed in previous sessions, said the experience "always provides new insight into how the legislative process works, and gives me a chance to talk about credit unions, too.  I love it."  She spent the day shadowing Rep. Lester Ordway, and had an opportunity to sit in on the House Republican caucus, as a guest of Assistant Minority Leader Ellie Espling.  Cloutier was introduced to the entire caucus and spent the remainder of the House session with Rep. Ordway.

After her job shadow was complete, Cloutier joined Baldacci at a work session for L.D. 1753 - An Act to Protect Consumers from Bank Overdraft Fees by Prohibiting the Resequencing of Transactions.  During the work session, Sandy provided the League with valuable insights on the regulations surrounding the overdraft protection.  The bill was voted Ought Not to Pass by the committee.
