There’s Still Time to Register for the Upcoming Financial Literacy Council Event

Coming together for collaboration, personal and professional development, and relationship building is part of what makes our League’s network of credit unions such a vibrant workforce. Opportunities to improve on and/or gain skills, network, and bring new ideas back to credit unions are incredibly helpful in propelling and empowering both individual credit union employees and credit unions as a whole.

One area our League credit unions consistently agree to focus our individual and collective efforts on is financial education outreach. The League is inviting those with a passion for financial education to the Financial Literacy Conference next week on October 26 at the Credit Union Service Center in Westbrook from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. This event will be open to any Maine credit union employee at no cost. Registrants may be placed on a waiting list if the number of individuals interested in attending is greater than the number of seats available. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

“The conference will offer insight on engaging both youth and adults in conversations about finances,” said Jake Holmes, the League’s Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator. “Along with learning the best practices on reaching each generation with tailored education, attendees will hear how to organize workshops—including how to get people to show up and actively participate.”

For an overview of what speakers Lee Silber and Juli Lewis will be discussing, as well as to register for the event, visit the event’s page on the League’s website. We ask you to secure your spot as soon as possible so we have an accurate headcount for breakfast and lunch offerings. In addition to hearing from the speakers, there will be ample time to network, exchange ideas, and discuss outreach opportunities.

If you have any questions about the event, please email Jake Holmes, or call 207-773-5671, ext. 266.
