Supervisory Committee & Board Training: Accessing, Understanding & Using Call Reports

The 5300 Call Report is the backbone of the financial reporting system. NCUA requires all federally insured credit unions to submit this detailed information for use in assessing credit unions’ financial health and observing important trends. NCUA also uses the Call Report as the basis for examinations and has begun levying penalties when it’s not correctly completed.

How is your credit union’s Call Report information prepared and submitted? What does it indicate about your institution? Could you identify an issue in your reporting system? How can the data assist with governance? Volunteers face increasing pressure to stay informed of the complex regulatory and business realities of the financial services marketplace. This session on Tuesday, January 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., will provide guidance and practical tips for using this essential tool.

For those participating in this webinar, you can expect to cover:

  • Call Report basics: from format to filing dates
  • Call Report information and schedules
  • Navigating the NCUA website
  • Understanding the reports: from financial performance ratios to full financial reports
  • Tips to gain the most from a Call Report review

After participating in this webinar, attendees will receive: Regulatory guidance; sample Call Report form; list of key financial ratios; employee training log; and a quiz you can administer to measure staff learning and a separate answer key.
