Strong pre-registration but room for more as CU Day at the State House nears

Strong pre-registration signals that Maine CUs will have a significant presence at the 2018 Maine CU Day at the State House in Augusta on Thursday, March 15, but the League reminds those who have not yet done so that there is still time to participate.  “We still have areas that don’t have CU representatives registered to attend, and our goal is to have each region of the state have CU representation at the State House.  Legislators make it a point to come to the Hall of Flags to see representatives from their local credit unions, so being there matters,” stated Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Maine CU League.

Baldacci said the format of the 2018 Maine CU Day at the State House has been adjusted to provide for greater “opportunities to connect credit union officials with legislators.  In the past few years, we noticed that two hours did not ensure time for as many legislators to attend because of session and other commitments.  As a result, we are holding CU Day for the entire morning from 8 a.m. - Noon, to allow for more legislators and credit unions to not only attend but to connect.  For credit unions, officials can come at anytime but we encourage pre-registration so we can plan and do our best to time CU visits with visits from their local legislators.  Making and strengthening those local connections are an important part of CU Day.”

In addition to meeting with legislators, attendees can watch the House and/or Senate in session, and view other happenings at the State House.

The 2018 Maine CU Day takes place this Thursday, March 15, in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta, from 8 a.m. - Noon.  Register to attend now by clicking here; download a registration form; or email Elise Baldacci.
