Saint James School Dresses Casual for a Cause: Ending Hunger

Hailey and Luci, two members of the Saint James School Student Council, pause for a photo after learning their school raised $342 to fight hunger.

Students at Saint James School in Biddeford traded in their school uniforms for casual attire last Friday in support of Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. As part of this special fundraiser, the school raised $342 for the Campaign.

On the second Friday of every month, students can “dress down” in exchange for a small monetary donation to a local charity. The charities vary month-to-month and are chosen by the student council.

Fourth-grader Hailey Burke came up with the idea of donating the April Casual for a Cause Day proceeds to the Campaign.

“I told everyone on our student council that this is an important cause to get behind,” said Burke. “It feels good to know we are helping feed people in our community who can’t afford to buy food.”

On behalf of the Campaign, we extend our thanks and appreciation to students at Saint James School for their generosity and caring. Their support will go a long way in helping feed those in need.
