Recognition? Time to submit an entry for League's State Awards program

Maine credit unions do a tremendous amount of outstanding work, much of it goes unnoticed.  Usually, that's o.k., but a little recognition sometimes doesn't hurt either.  The Maine Credit Union League is pleased to once again provide an opportunity for Maine CUs to be recognized at the state level, with the possibility of national recognition, as well.  Entries for the prestigious state Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring and Desjardins Awards are now being accepted.

The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award is given to a credit union for its social responsibility projects within the community. The award is given for external activities.  Click here for more information or to begin your submission.

The Louise Herring Philosophy-In-Action Member Service Award is given to a credit union for its practical application of credit union philosophy within the actual operation of the credit union. It is awarded for internal programs and services that benefit membership.  Click here to get started.

The Desjardins Financial Education Awards have two categories - one for youth financial education efforts, and another for efforts focused on adult financial education.  This program recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of financial literacy for all ages.  Click here to submit an entry or for more information.

"This is an opportunity to not only be honored for doing some great work, but all first-place winners will go on to compete in the national awards program, coordinated by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA).  Indicative of the great work that Maine CUs have a history of doing is the fact that at least one Maine credit union has received a national award in fifteen out of the past nineteen years, including many years with multiple winners.  Maine credit unions do so much for their communities and their members, and we encourage credit unions to take the time to tell us about it," said Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League.

All entries must be completed by March 31, 2018.  Judging by a panel of public relations and communications professionals will take place in April, with the winners announced during the Maine CU League's 80th Annual Meeting on Friday, May 18, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.
