Radio interviews highlight youth financial education, CU growth and ending hunger

The Maine CU League recently participated in two radio interviews that covered a wide-range of topics including strong growth at Maine CUs, convenience, youth financial education, and the continued support of Maine CUs for ending hunger in Maine.  Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League, participated in both interviews, one that aired on Maine's Big Z, which is heard in Lewiston/Auburn and Oxford County, and the other that aired on Hot 104.7 in southern Maine.

On the popular-morning show, The Breakfast Club on Maine's Big Z, Paradise spent the hour answering questions and providing information on the popularity of Maine's credit unions, the convenience that members receive through the largest, surcharge-free ATM Network in Maine and the Shared Branch Network, the work of Maine credit unions in support of ending hunger, and the significant leadership that credit unions provide on helping students with financial education.  "We covered a lot of information and highlights in an hour, and the opportunity to reach listeners during morning drive is one that is always beneficial in building credit union awareness," Paradise said.

In an interview that aired on two different nights on Hot 104.7, Paradise spent most of the time talking about youth financial education and the efforts of Maine's credit unions in helping Maine youth "to have a greater understanding of finances before they become adults."  Paradise noted the growth of the award-winning Financial Fitness - Money Management Experience fairs as well as the growing popularity of the online version of the Fair that has been accessed nearly 3,000 times over the past year.  "Hot 104.7 does very well with the 12-30 year-old demographic so getting the word out about not only what credit unions are about but how we can help with that age group goes hand-in-hand with your efforts to attract young people."
