Radio interviews boosting awareness, last minute push as 2017 Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger enters final weeks

With the final day for contributions to count towards the 2017 Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger total just three weeks away, the Maine CU League has taken to the airwaves to talk about fundraising efforts and encourage last-minute contributions.  Over the past week, the League has coordinated nearly 25 interviews that have aired on stations covering most of Maine's geography.  "In the spirit of the holidays, we want to do a last-minute awareness effort to remind people that Maine credit unions have this great campaign that makes a difference in communities long after the holidays are over.  While the interviews have focused on the Campaign, many have also included the fact that nearly 700,000 Mainers use a credit union, and the local commitment that is part of the fabric of credit unions," said Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League.

In addition to the radio interviews, Paradise said a PSA highlighting the Campaign and the fact that people can stop by and contribute at their local credit union, and that all contributions are tax-deductible are also airing on select radio stations in Maine, at no charge.  "As part of the great partnerships we have with radio stations throughout Maine, more than 500, :30-second PSAs will air in December promoting the Campaign and Maine's credit unions."

Paradise noted that, due to popular demand, a limited number of Christmas In Maine CDs are available through the League's website.  The CD features holiday songs by Maine artists including the original version of The Maine Christmas Song, which is the official holiday song of Maine.  The CD sells for $9.99 and $4 from each CD goes to the Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger.  "It's amazing the number of requests that we still receive for this CD, which was first sold nearly a decade ago.  It's a great collection of holiday music, and has raised thousands for the Campaign since its release."  The CDs will be offered for sale online at www.mainecul.org through December 31st, or while supplies last.  You can also email Jon Paradise or call 207.773.5671, ext. 273, for more information.
