Membership Tops New Milestone In Third Quarter Stats

In recently-released third quarter statistics provided by your League, membership in Maine's credit unions continued its surge as it topped 651,000 members, surpassing the 650,000 member mark for the first-time ever.

Additionally, all other key measurement categories reflected gains with total assets growing 3.5% through the first three quarters of the year and now stand at $6.355 billion; loans have increased by nearly $200 million to $4.36 billion; and shares through the first nine months of 2014 grew a steady 3.3% to reach $5.4 billion.

"Maine credit unions not only remain popular with consumers but continue to increase in membership and product penetration; a very encouraging sign.  With unmatched access through the surcharge-free ATM Network and the shared branch network, as well as the integration of new products and services, such as mobile deposit, Maine's credit unions are in touch with the needs and demands of today's consumer," explained John Murphy, President of your League, adding, "While we won't know the year-end stats for a couple of months, the trends are positive and we expect that when they are released that 2014 was another milestone year for Maine's credit unions."
