Maine Justice Foundation to Host Reception at the Blaine House

On October 7 at 2pm, the Board of Directors of the Maine Justice Foundation will host a tea and reception at the Blaine House in Augusta to recognize the financial institutions that support legal aid for the poor in Maine through Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Accounts (IOLTA). Income from IOLTA helps poor and vulnerable Mainers get assistance for legal issues such as eviction, divorce, child custody, and bankruptcy.

In Maine, eleven credit unions participate in IOLTA. Those include:

  • Acadia FCU
  • Atlantic FCU
  • Five County CU
  • Katahdin FCU
  • Lincoln Maine FCU
  • Maine Family FCU
  • Maine Savings FCU
  • New Dimensions FCU
  • NorState FCU
  • The County FCU
  • University CU

The contributions of these credit unions, and those from 29 banks, will be recognized at this special event. Remarks will be given by Governor Janet Mills; Warren Silver, retired Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court; Charles Soltan, President of the Board of Legal Services for the Elderly; and William S. Harwood, President of the Board of the Maine Justice Foundation.

To attend, RSVP to info@justicemaine.org by October 1, or call 207.622.3477.
