Maine CU League President talks technology and financial services in TV interview

In an interview discussing the benefits and trends of technology when it comes to financial services, Todd Mason, President of the Maine Credit Union League, offered his thoughts on technology and the "value it can provide to help credit unions serve consumers." The interview aired statewide recently on Newscenter Maine (Chs. 2 and 6), and, noted Mason, positioned credit unions "as not only a resource for what is happening in the world of financial services but as leaders."

In the nearly two-minute interview, Mason covered a variety of topics and highlighted the benefits of technology. "Technology can make managing your finances easier. But when coupled with the service credit unions are known for, you not only get high tech, you get high-touch too. For example, you can start an auto loan on your phone using a mobile app from your credit union. But if you need guidance along the way, your credit union just a click, call or visit away. Coupled with some of the newer advancements, like using Alexa to access your accounts using your voice, that combination of technology and service will just keep getting better."

He also noted the added security that new technology can offer to consumers. "By syncing credit and debit cards with Apple Pay or Google Pay or whatever your smart device might feature, your payments will actually be more secure because your phone isn't as susceptible to skimming devices the way your card can be."
