Local Charities Benefit from Five County CU’s Quarterly Giving

Giving back to their community is what Five County CU does best.  Each quarter, the credit union raises money for area nonprofit organizations.

In the third quarter, Five County lent their support to the Herp Haven Reptile Rescue and Sanctuary.  Located in Brunswick, Herp Haven is a unique small animal rescue for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The credit union raised $1,254.55 for the charity and presented the organization a check last month to support their efforts. Herp Haven even visited Five County CU’s Bath branch where employees said hello to Priscilla, an Argentine black and white tegu that lives at the facility.

“Integral to Five County Credit Union’s culture is our commitment to helping others,” said Kelly Ramsey, Marketing Director for Five County CU. “This is one of many charities we are fortunate to be a part of this year.”

This quarter, Five County is raising money for Madeline’s Mission, an organization that was created by Aime Marzen after her daughter Madeline passed away from a rare brain tumor. The credit union will be holding raffles, selling Halloween goodie bags and treats, and hosting a paint night to support Madeline’s Mission. Money raised from the fundraising drive will be used towards their bereavement kit program and support the organization’s overall mission to provide a path to wellness, healing, and hope for families grieving the loss of a child.

“Our Charitable Contribution Committee is the primary decision maker with fundraising requests,” said Ramsey. “In an effort to switch things up and involve our members, these two charities were selected by a Facebook poll. Through successful social media awareness and member input, we were able to highlight two different organizations for our charity of the quarter. We always look forward to working on fundraising efforts that will have an impact on the eight communities we serve.”
