League's work ensures that magazine again includes Maine credit unions in issue on finances

When Portland Monthly Magazine first did its annual article on financial institutions a number of years ago, the focus was only on Maine banks.  After the League reached out to discuss the important role and popularity of credit unions in Maine, credit unions have been included.  In the article titled, This is the Year Your Ship Comes In, 14 credit unions are highlighted.  From great places to work to convenience to the latest technology and financial education, many of the strengths of credit unions are featured in the piece.

"While it's a marketing piece for the magazine, it's great to see credit unions portrayed favorably when compared to banks, and even have a credit union be one of the featured quotes discussing technology.  The magazine has a nice cross-section of credit unions by location and asset size, and the League's Statewide Awareness Campaign purchased a full-page ad to further promote all Maine credit unions," remarked Debra Trautman, Vice President of Corporate Marketing for the Maine CU League.

"Getting credit unions to be a big part of this piece reinforces the role that outreach and media relationships have in positioning credit unions as significant parts of the financial services landscape in Maine.  Building awareness and focusing on the strengths and benefits of credit unions remains a top priority for your League," added Todd Mason, President of the Maine CU League.
