League Training Provides New Supervisors with Tools for Success

With so many talented employees across the state, it’s no surprise that many find themselves moving up or growing within their credit union. If you’re a new supervisor, or could benefit from a refresher course on supervision, you won’t want to miss the workshop, Supervisor University: Basic Supervision on Friday, January 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Credit Union Service Center in Westbrook.

Your League’s Director of Education, Jane Thomas, will provide attendees with the fundamentals of becoming a successful supervisor so you can help lead your team to success. This workshop will cover some common issues encountered in the workplace, practical theories for supervision, and concepts and ideas on how to handle your responsibilities. Thomas will also guide you through the elements of accountability and how to establish a team structure.

This course is especially helpful for new supervisors, as you will learn to determine the difference between leading vs. managing. Thomas will provide different leadership styles and when to use them. Additionally, you will leave with useful tools to inspire, coach, and motivate your employees.
