League Meets with SBA Officials

Your league hosted a meeting this week with Seth Goodall, Regional Administrator, and Marilyn Geroux, District Director, of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The meeting focused on improvements that the SBA is implementing to make it easier for financial institutions to do business with the SBA and to discuss forums where credit unions can learn more about the SBA's overall service offering.

League President John Murphy said "seven Maine Credit Unions worked with the SBA to provide 27 small business to loans to members during the SBA's FY 2014 representing slightly more than $2.6 million. We believe many more lending opportunities exists that would be beneficial to members and their credit unions."

Goodall, who previously served in the Maine Legislature, has a long history of working with credit unions, and looks forward to continuing this dialogue on ways "to further assisting Maine's credit unions to help them access resources and programs to help small businesses in Maine."
