League Joins Sabattus Regional CU in Mourning Kenneth Bastien


The League joins Sabattus Regional CU in mourning Kenneth Bastien, who passed away peacefully on June 19. Ken was a dedicated member of Sabattus Regional CU’s Board of Trustees.

“Ken was a great guy and a wonderful Board member,” said Tiffiny Stewart, President/CEO at Sabattus Regional CU. “He surely will be missed by our entire team.”

Services for Ken were held on June 27. The text of his obituary as it appeared on Dignity Memorial’s website is below.

Kenneth Bastien was born 9/14/1959 in Lewiston. Ken lived his entire life in Auburn until he bought his house in Wales. Ken worked at Quoddy Moc during high school graduating from Edward Little High School in 1977. In the 80s, Ken began working for the Auburn School Department as a custodian, moved to operations manager, and finally computer technician when he retired in 2019.

Ken’s passion was financial planning and investing. He helped countless staff navigate retirement and its financial planning. He credited his knowledge to his Uncle. Ken was a member of the Lewiston-Auburn Jaycees. Ken was also a valued member of the Sabattus Regional Credit Union Board of Trustees for the last several years.

Ken loved his many cat companions and after retiring he fostered several cats from the Androscoggin SPCA until they found their fur-ever homes. He went Christmas shopping every year and would deliver a carload of supplies to the Shelter in Lewiston.

Ken was survived by his brother Jerry and sister-in-law Donna Bastien, brothers Ron and Rick, as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather.
