League Awards Spotlight: Jeannette G. Morin Award

Christina Carter accepting her Jeannette G. Morin at the 2023 League Annual Convention.

Throughout the nomination period for the League’s 2024 awards program, we will feature an award category to help credit unions identify individuals who are deserving of a special honor. There is no better way to demonstrate your appreciation for someone special at your credit union than by nominating them for a League Award.

The People Helping People movement is comprised of thousands of dedicated credit union employees across the country. In Maine, our credit union workforce is second to none. Recognizing the incredible individuals that make your credit union and our movement succeed is important, and we need your input. Help us honor one of your exceptional colleagues at Elevate 2024 by nominating them for a Jeannette G. Morin Award. This award is given annually to an outstanding credit union employee.

To submit a nomination, please visit the League’s website and complete the simple-to-use online application form. Nominators should summarize how the nominee has demonstrated outstanding leadership at their credit union and how they go beyond the requirements of their position. Information such as contributions to their credit union chapter, the national credit union movement, and community volunteerism are important to note, as well. Please also include relevant information about leadership style, personality traits, philosophy, and interactions with staff and members with the submission.

Last year, the League proudly honored Christina Carter, EVP – Chief Lending Officer with Midcoast FCU. Carter was nominated by her President/CEO, Joe Gervais, because she exemplifies the credit union spirit in everything she does, both professionally and personally. In his nomination of Carter, Gervais shared, “Christina is the embodiment of the People Helping People philosophy. Beyond the list of impressive titles and leadership roles, what is most remarkable about Christina is her quiet confidence, humility, and selflessness in all that she does.”

The deadline for submitting a nomination for this award, and the other awards the League will be celebrating at the 86th Annual Convention, now referred to as Elevate 2024, is fast approaching! Please be sure to enter your submissions by March 17.
