Largest-ever Maine CU Delegation heads to CUNA's GAC

If participation is any indication of successful advocacy, it's no wonder that Maine credit unions continue to be successful on legislative and governmental affairs-related issues.  From Sunday, February 25 - Thursday, March 1, the largest-ever delegation of Maine CU officials will be in Washington, D.C., attending the 2018 Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference.

With over 100 registered to attend, the Maine presence will be strong at not only the Conference but at the highlight event for the Maine CU League - the Annual Breakfast for Maine's Congressional Delegation.  "We, of course, want participants to enjoy all that the Conference offers, from breakout sessions to a line-up of current and former political leaders, including former President George W. Bush, but we will once again be focusing our advocacy efforts on our Delegation at the Breakfast," remarked Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for your League.

With a host of issues of interest to credit unions before Congress right now, having a strong presence will reinforce the power of grassroots advocacy of credit unions.  A number of Congressional leaders will address the general conference, and all four members of Maine's Congressional Delegation are scheduled to attend the League's Breakfast.

"Prior to introducing our Delegation, we will highlight some of our important issues and outline why and how they impact credit unions.  This will be an opportunity to advocate to our Delegation with a room full of more than one-hundred credit union representatives from Maine.  That sends a powerful message," stated Todd Mason, President of the Maine CU League.
