In a year made up of weeks, Weekly Update had impressive readership

According to statistics compiled by your League, engagement and readership in your League's signature weekly publication, Weekly Update, remains strong and well-above the national average for similar publications.  In addition to strong readership, 2017 saw an increase in the average number of articles that were included in Weekly Update each week with an average of 13 articles, up nearly 3 full articles over the previous year.  "Our focus on providing as much information and resources as we can through a diverse and variety of articles resulted in a more robust publication delivered to credit unions each week.  As we look to 2018, our goal is to provide even more of the content that credit unions not only expect but need to stay informed and engaged," remarked Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement and the Managing Editor of Weekly Update.

Paradise said the most read article of the year appeared in the December 8, 2017, issue of Weekly Update.  It was the article on the Senior Leadership Changes at the League and Synergent, which reinforces the high level of engagement of readers interested in what is happening at the League.  Following that, the other four most read stories of the year were (in order): an article focused on credit union updates including a name change, merger and new location (November 3 issue); an article on the League's first meeting of the foreclosure working meet (August 4 issue); an article on the complicated issue of providing financial services to marijuana businesses (January 12 issue); and the efforts of Maine CUs to help state workers impacted by the state shutdown (June 30 issue).  "A very diverse cross-section of topics were among the most-read stories of the year so we will continue to look to provide information and coverage on a wide-range of topics to serve our credit union staff and volunteers, who make up the majority of our readership, even better in the year ahead."

While readership and the amount of articles each reader viewed increased in 2017, so did the number of readers, which increased about 3.5% over 2016.  There is no charge to receive Weekly Update.  To begin receiving it electronically, please email Jon Paradise at anytime.
