Hike the Hill is Back

The League is proudly bringing back our popular Hike the Hill program. This is a great opportunity to advocate for the credit union movement with your elected officials and regulators in Washington, DC. This year’s event will take place September 13-15 and registration is now open! If you are interested in attending Hike the Hill, please sign up before August 9.

For those needing hotel accommodations, a block of rooms has been reserved at the AC Hotel DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard. The room rate is $329 per night. If your credit union needs assistance booking flights to Washington, DC, please email Kelley Souza at ksouza@mainecul.org. Depending on the level of interest, the number of credit union representatives may be limited and the League will contact CEOs directly if an issue arises.

Tentative Hike the Hill Agenda

Hike the Hill will begin with a Legislative Briefing and Reception at Credit Union House on September 13, tentatively planned for 4:00 pm. A joint reception with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions will take place at 5:30 pm. CUNA’s legislative staff will provide all participants with an update on credit union issues at the federal level and share key talking points for use in meetings with legislators and regulators. Following these activities, the League will host a dinner for attendees. The restaurant location and meeting time will be announced soon.

Meetings with all four members of Maine’s congressional delegation will take place on September 14. Meetings with credit union regulators will occur on September 15.

Information about Hike the Hill will continue to be shared with CEOs and posted on the League’s website. In the interim, please direct any questions you may have to Robert Caverly, League Vice President of Advocacy & Outreach, at rcaverly@mainecul.org.
