Helping Local Charities Is As Easy As Swiping a Card at TruChoice FCU

TruChoice FCU makes it easy for members to give back to their communities, thanks to the credit union’s TruHero credit card program. With every swipe, a portion of the interchange income generated from using the card is donated to The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network affiliate hospital, or the McAuley Residence. Last year, $21,173 was donated to these respected organizations, bringing the total since the card’s introduction in 2009 to $130,000.

“Our TruHero card gives members an easy way to give back to their community,” said Ken Acker, CEO of TruChoice FCU. “They are what makes this program work. With so many options out there, I’m grateful every day that members choose to become TruHeroes!”

As an added benefit, TruHero members’ cards include the logo of their chosen charity—an ongoing reminder of their “TruHero” status.

“The TruHero program has grown and evolved so much in the 15 years since we launched it,” added Acker. “Donations have more than doubled over the last five years. I am proud of our team and all their work to make it so easy for members to give back!”

TruChoice FCU has caring for others built into its DNA. From its roots as a credit union serving local hospitals to its work in the community today, TruChoice FCU values finding creative ways to help ensure the well-being of Mainers across their field of membership.
