Golfers Tee Off at Poland Spring to Help Fight Hunger

The chilly start did not diminish the enthusiasm of the golfers who participated at the annual Ending Hunger Convention Golf Tournament. Over 140 people hit the greens to kick-off Convention festivities and support our signature philanthropic initiative.

This year’s event was hosted at a new location—the Poland Spring Golf Course—and saw the return to a shotgun start and competitive format. While all play was in the spirit of charity, it did not stop the golfers from engaging in some friendly competition for the event’s prizes. Taking home bragging rights from the tournament include:

  • Low Gross Team Comprised of: Nick Chasse, Cole Downing, CJ Glenn, and Jon Taylor
  • Best Net Team Comprised of: Luke Labbe, Craig Pendleton, Dan Dallaire, and Troy Parker
  • Closest to the Pin (Male): Ethan Cohen
  • Closest to the Pin (Female): Rachel Laprell
  • Longest Drive (Male): Ryan Thompson
  • Longest Drive (Female): Lucky D’ascanio

The League will announce the fundraising totals from the golf tournament and the Ending Hunger Online Auction, which ends today at 2:45 pm (get your bids in!).

“I am so appreciative all of the teams who came out to support the Campaign for Ending Hunger and our sponsors who made this day possible,” said Jen Burke, League AVP – Communications & Outreach. “I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention our hosts at Poland Spring who were wonderful! From the smiles on everyone’s faces to the laughter heard in the club house following the event, I feel confident that everyone enjoyed their time supporting an important cause that all Maine credit unions care deeply about.”
