Give me an E-N-D! Give me a H-U-N-G-E-R!

Maine's credit unions have once again teamed with CBS WGME 13 and FOX 23 to make some noise to highlight hunger in Maine!  The School Spirit Challenge started earlier this month and will continue through early March at high schools throughout southern, central and western Maine.  To date, the early morning pep rallies have been held at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, Gould Academy in Bethel, and Kents Hill School in Kents Hill.  At each rally, Maine's credit unions are prominently featured on-air during the Challenge, as well as heavily promoted on-air and online.

These school spirit challenges offer friendly competition between schools to show off school pride while helping feed Maine communities. Maine's credit unions are sponsoring the winter Challenge for the second year. The Challenge promotes community involvement to high school students through an ongoing food drive to benefit Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Schools participating in the Challenge will compete to raise the most pounds of food this winter. CBS 13 and FOX 23 feature a different school every Friday on Good Day Maine from January 9 to February 27.  At each appearance, representatives from your League and Maine's credit unions speak on-air about the issue of hunger and the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger.  The winner will be announced on Friday, March 6, live on the air.

The remainder of the School Spirit Challenge schedule is as follows:

January 29 - Cony High School, Augusta
January 30 - McCauley High School, Portland
February 6 - St Dominic High School, Auburn
February 13 - Lake Region High School, Naples
February 20 - Vacation Week-No Rally
February 27 - Boothbay High School, Boothbay; and Winslow High School, Winslow

"The School Spirit Challenges are a great connection to communities, and promote the efforts of credit unions in helping to end hunger in Maine.  Through social media, online, and on-air, Maine's credit unions are receiving significant attention as is the issue of hunger in Maine.  It's great to see the enthusiasm and energy of the hundreds of kids each week at the various high schools.  We have reached out to local credit unions to encourage them to participate in the Challenge by attending the Rally in their area and credit unions enjoy being part of the experience," stated Debra Trautman, VP of Corporate Marketing for your League.
