When the final total raised from the 2017 Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger is announced, it will be done so in front of a large crowd. Filled with anticipation and excitement regarding how much the Campaign raised in the past year, the announcement will take place on Tuesday, February 6, at the Double Tree Hotel in South Portland. Three-time Olympian and the inspiration for the wildly successful movie, Cool Runnings, Devon Harris will be the featured speaker at this year's event. Harris is a strong advocate for children including providing support for childhood backpack programs.
"After a record-breaking 2016, it remains to be seen what the 2017 final total will be. No matter what the total is, it will be a day to celebrate the work and effort of credit unions. This is their Campaign and the people attending the luncheon and many others are the reason why it is so successful," said Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League.
The Luncheon takes place from 11:30 p.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Double Tree Hotel, and will include an address by Harris, followed by the 2017 total announcement, and the presentation of certificates to all in attendance.
