Financial expertise of Maine CUs featured in segment that airs on statewide television

This past Sunday on WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2's popular Morning Report, a segment aired that featured the financial expertise and savings advice of Maine's credit unions, while reinforcing the value and benefits that using a credit union can bring.  While Jake Holmes offered insight aimed at young adults in the segment focused on getting your finances in shape for 2018, the tips were applicable to all ages.  "Writing down your expenses is a great first step to getting a handle on your budget.  This includes taking a look at what fees you are paying for financial services.  That's where using a credit union can save you a lot of money on fees and better rates," Holmes explained.

Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine Credit Union League, said having consumers equate saving money with credit unions "sends a powerful message and pays significant dividends.  Maine credit unions are a great financial value and today's consumers appreciate value and benefits so having one associated with the other is certainly helpful to our branding and awareness efforts.  Our media strategy is to be proactive in pursuing opportunities that help consumers and reinforce credit unions as consumer-friendly, financial cooperatives."

In addition to airing on TV, the segment was also distributed online through WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2's social media platforms, and the piece has already been shared and viewed hundreds of times through Facebook and Twitter.
