Expanded hours create more opportunities to connect at Maine CU Day at the State House

More time, more opportunities, more connections!  That is the premise behind the expanded hours for the 2018 Maine CU Day at the State House in Augusta.  "There is significant value in the relationships between credit unions and legislators, and CU Day at the State House creates a great opportunity to make those connections.  However, we found that by limiting our event to only a couple of hours, we were more likely to miss legislators.  Expanding it to the entire morning should increase the opportunities for credit unions and legislators to connect," explained Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs at the Maine CU League, when discussing this year's event taking place from 8 a.m. - Noon.

While Maine CU Day at the State House has been an overwhelming advocacy success for Maine's credit unions over the years, legislative schedules have made it more difficult to connect legislators and credit union representatives.  "Being in the Hall of Flags to catch those legislators in the morning, and still being there right as Session ends will allow us to have a longer presence, and increase the likelihood that legislators can stop by.  CU Day at the State House is such an important part of our state advocacy efforts that we want to create more opportunities to bring legislators and credit unions together," remarked Baldacci.

The 2018 Maine CU Day at the State House takes place on Thursday, March 15, from 8 a.m. - Noon, in the Hall of Flags in Augusta.  In order to best connect legislators with credit unions, all attendees are asked to register with the time they will be attending.  "When legislators stop by, they want to meet people from their local credit union and having a time when people will be there makes it easier to connect everybody," said Baldacci.
