Evergreen CU received the Small Business Administration (SBA) District Director Award in recognition of the credit union’s efforts to increase the use of SBA programs and access to programs like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). During fiscal year 2021, Evergreen CU provided over $2,300,000 in 504 loans and over $9,000,000 in PPP loans. Evergreen CU was ranked first among all Maine credit unions in both categories by the SBA.

“Over the course of the pandemic, we’ve seen our local lenders step up in a huge way with new programs, while still working hard to keep up with our standard loan products,” said Diane Sturgeon, District Director for the SBA Maine District Office. “These numbers show that Maine lenders continued making important investments in our small businesses that will be crucial to our economic recovery.”

Jason Lindstrom, President and CEO at Evergreen CU, acknowledged that the credit union made a tremendous effort when the pandemic was at its worst to help support local businesses in all the communities they serve.

“I applaud our entire commercial banking team,” said Lindstrom. “They realized the importance of getting money to so many affected businesses and worked for months in difficult circumstances to get it done.”
