"Credit unions can help get your finances in shape," League states in TV segment

The Maine CU League's focus on how credit unions can help consumers get their finances in order in the new year resulted in the third segment this month that offered insight and tips to help consumers, while reinforcing the value and benefits that using a credit union can provide.  In the most recent segment that aired earlier this week on ABC 7 and FOX 22 in Bangor, viewers heard that using a credit union saved Maine consumers $57 million in 2017.  In addition, various other tips, such as budgeting and credit scores were shared to help consumers be financially successful in 2018.

Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement, appeared on the segment that aired live at Noon on ABC 7, and then was aired as a news story that evening on both ABC 7 and FOX 22 newscasts.  "Credit unions are committed to helping people get their finances in shape.  From offering ways to build your credit score to integrating technology that makes conducting financial transactions easier without adding expense, credit unions understand that getting your finances in shape is not easy.  We would encourage consumers to set realistic financial goals, and to speak with their local credit union about what they can do to be in a better financial situation in the new year."

Paradise also spoke about how the start of a new year is a good time to evaluate your financial relationships.  "If you are not using a credit union, look into it.  With so many tools available online including opening an account, getting a loan and other resources, switching to a credit union is easier than ever."

Earlier this month, Young & Free Maine Spokester, Jake Holmes, did a segment aimed at helping millennials get their finances in order for the new year that aired on WCSH 6 and WLBZ 2.
