2025 marks a milestone for our shared Campaign for Ending Hunger—35 years of collaboration, hope, and living out our People Helping People philosophy. I am proud of the unwavering commitment our movement continues to show in fighting food insecurity. Until every Mainer has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive, our Campaign will keep moving forward with purpose.
Fundraising is at the heart of our work to end hunger in Maine. Every dollar raised helps connect hungry Mainers with meals. As we near the finish line of our 35th fundraising year—and get closer to reaching our $1.35 million goal—we have a unique opportunity to come together for the $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge. Now in its sixth year, the Challenge runs throughout October with the goal of raising $100,000 in just one month.
I hope your credit union will join us once again!
Since its launch, credit unions have generously pledged support to the Challenge, and I kindly ask you to consider donating this year. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels, with all donations recognized on our Campaign Contributors page. But giving financially isn’t the only way to participate. You can also:
- Host a fundraising event;
- Share our social media messages to inspire member donations; and/or
- Volunteer at a local food pantry or soup kitchen.
Many credit unions already have event plans in motion—from golf events to fall festivals—and I can’t wait to celebrate your efforts (and results).

To build even greater momentum, the League will be promoting the Challenge through paid and earned media. Remember: you don’t have to be a credit union member to give; everyone can be part of this fight against hunger.
Reaching $100,000 in one month is ambitious, but we’ve proven time and again what’s possible when we work together. Think back to the remarkable generosity you showed earlier this year in support of Good Shepherd Food Bank. I know we can do it again. My team at the League is here to support you and your colleagues every step of the way.
Let’s make this year’s Challenge the biggest yet. Thank you for your continued support—the work you do to tackle one of Maine’s most critical issues is nothing short of remarkable.
