A New Year Message From Todd Mason

For many of us, watching the ball drop in Times Square is a New Year’s Eve tradition. Another tradition is credit unions carrying out our shared People Helping People philosophy. So, as we embark on another year, let’s take a moment to reflect on how we have carried out that tradition in the past and redouble our commitment to carrying it forward to the future.

The cooperative structure of credit unions enables us to work together to improve the financial well-being of our members and make positive contributions to our state. We do this in a variety of ways. Affordable lending and credit building programs, financial education, advocacy, and fundraising to end hunger are just a few examples. The work we do has always been significant, but I believe our efforts to uplift others in 2023 will be particularly impactful and important given the economic strains Mainers face.

While no one knows what the next twelve months have in store for us, a few things are certain. Maine credit unions and the League always will be a beacon of hope for our members. We will continue to support each other and our employees. And together, we will work hard to make Maine the best place to live, work, and thrive. I take comfort in knowing this and hope you do, too.

I look forward to collaborating with you in the weeks and months ahead. Happy New Year!
