A Message From Todd Mason: Highlights From the 2022 Impact Report

In just a couple of weeks, we’ll be turning our calendars and ushering in a new year. With the holiday season now upon us, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the past twelve months and all that we have accomplished together.

When thinking about 2022, the power of our connection is top of mind. The connections we share with one another, with our members and communities, and with our strategic partners are what fuel our success and set the credit union industry apart from others operating in financial services. Even under the most trying of circumstances, Maine’s credit union movement continues to serve as a positive catalyst for change in our state.

As we have done in the past, our League has assembled an Impact Report highlighting our collective accomplishments. To be honest, it wasn’t easy summarizing everything we’ve worked on together this year because the list is long and the impact is far-reaching.

For example, we’ve made great strides in our goal to end hunger in our state and expanded our financial literacy curriculum to improve financial wellness for Mainers of all ages. We actively engaged throughout the election cycle and provided thoughtful endorsements to credit union-friendly candidates at both the state and federal levels. We successfully advocated for credit union issues in Augusta and Washington, DC. We ensured Statewide Awareness efforts echoed the powerful impact credit union membership has on the lives of everyday Mainers. Lastly, through educational trainings, councils, committees, and chapters, credit unions remained connected while also experiencing professional growth and development.

These examples just scratch the surface of what we have done. I encourage you to review the Impact Report to see our year-in-review in greater detail. After reading it, I hope you are proud of the impact we have collectively made this past year. I know I am!

I also want to invite you to a virtual Town Hall meeting on Monday, December 12 at 1:00 pm that the League and Synergent are hosting to discuss the report and share our appreciation for your continued trust in us. If you did not receive the Zoom meeting details and would like to attend, please email Kelley Souza at ksouza@mainecul.org.

Thank you for making such a powerful impact. In the year ahead, I’m confident that together we’ll achieve even more for our members, communities, and state.
