2014 Maine CUs’ Campaign For Ending Hunger Total To Be Announced February 3rd

Liz Murray, whose life was the subject of an Emmy-nominated movie, Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story, based on her New York Times' best-selling book, Breaking Night, will be the keynote speaker.  After what promises to be an inspirational speech, Murray will join your League's President John Murphy and Luke Labbe, President/CEO of PeoplesChoice CU and Chair of your League's Social Responsibility Committee, in unveiling the 'Big Check' with the final total raised by the 2014 Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger.

"Liz Murray's life and story are about being hungry and homeless, and the efforts of Maine's credit unions to help people who are in similar situations all across our state fits perfectly into that theme and focus.  She will be a great addition to what promises to be a special day," explained your League's VP of Governmental & Public Affairs, Jon Paradise.

In addition to announcing the 2014 total, the Top 3 Credit Unions in Total Funds Raised and Per Member Contributions will be recognized, along with all credit unions that participated in the 2014 Campaign.

Invitations to attend the event were sent to all Credit Union CEOs that participated in the event, and your League encourages credit unions to send one or two representatives to this Luncheon.  A slide show highlighting some of the ways credit unions raised funds for Ending Hunger will also be presented at this event.  Please send photos and stories to Lauren Reeves to be included.

RSVP to attend the Luncheon by emailing, or calling Lauren Reeves at 800.442.6715, ext. 353, by Thursday, January 29th.
