Halloween, pumpkin spice, and football—these are probably what comes top of mind when thinking about October. There’s an important initiative our League wants you to remember when you flip your calendars next week: the $100,000 Ending Hunger Challenge!
Thirty-one days is not a long time to raise $100,000, but Maine credit unions have already proven that they can come together in one month to support a cause that helps get food into the hands of those in need. Several credit unions and partners have already accepted our Challenge. We hope you will join them by pledging a donation; hosting an event; and/or encouraging your members, friends, and family to make a financial contribution.
Support from this special fundraiser will benefit local food pantries, meal sites, Good Shepherd Food Bank, and new this year—a pilot program to help Special Olympics athletes fight food insecurity. With a variety of turnkey resources developed to help you promote the Challenge, the League hopes we’ve made it easy for you to engage.
As we enter the month when we celebrate International Credit Union Day, let’s come together to demonstrate what makes Maine credit unions so special: our unwavering commitment to collaborate in support of ending hunger for all Mainers. Join us and accept our Challenge today!
