12th Annual Free Turkey Giveaway Provides 200 Holiday Meals


On Tuesday, November 26, Hot Radio Maine put on their 12th Annual Free Turkey Giveaway at the Wells Super Food Market IGA—and our League’s Jen Burke, AVP – Communications & Outreach, was there to help get turkeys into the hands of Mainers! Despite the rain, Burke and the Hot Radio team saw a turnout for the books, giving away 200 turkeys to families in just 90 minutes this Thanksgiving.

Maine State Legislators Sworn Into Office


On Wednesday, the 132nd Maine Legislature was sworn-in to begin their two-year legislative term. After being sworn-in and electing Maine’s constitutional officers, legislators adjourned until January when their work will begin. Among the 186 winners of November’s election were 102 League endorsed candidates.

APSN Causes $95 Million Fine for Navy Federal CU


On November 7, the CFPB and Navy Federal CU (Navy Fed) agreed to a consent order where Navy Fed is required to pay more than $95 million for overdraft fees charged to members going back as far as 2020. At issue was the policy of “Authorized-Positive Settled Negative” (APSN) overdrafts and the changes in settlement deadlines and delays for person-to-person payments.
