Registration is Open for the 2nd Annual Financial Literacy Conference

Personal finance is becoming increasingly complex, with new tools, apps, and products being released all the time. When it comes to financial literacy, you’re never really done learning – even if you feel well-versed on this subject. That’s why Maine CU professionals, especially those with a focus and passion for financial education, are invited to attend the Maine Credit Union League’s 2nd Annual Financial Literacy Conference on Thursday, September 27, at the CU Service Center in Westbrook, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

September marks the start of back-to-school season. The timing of the Financial Literacy Conference is designed to focus on some of the ways credit unions can engage both youth and adults in financial education in the upcoming year.

“Along with sharing my insight on all things financial literacy as one of the speakers, I’m also looking forward to discussing my new role, promoting collaboration on a number of education efforts with credit unions going forward,” shared Jake Holmes, Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator for the League.

The 2018 Conference program includes the following speakers:

  • Michelle Anderson, President of Junior Achievement Maine. Michelle will highlight the ways in which credit unions can partner and support Junior Achievement’s financial literacy efforts, especially with younger children.
  • Yellow Light Breen, President/CEO of Maine Development Foundation. Yellow brings years of experience from the financial services industry, along with his leadership role at the MDF that includes workforce development, training and education.
  • Jake Holmes, Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator for the Maine CU League. Holmes will share his insight and expertise on financial education and also provide information on how his new role will support and assist credit unions.

In addition to these great speakers, there will be time to network, exchange ideas and get connected and excited about financial education in the upcoming school year.

A continental breakfast and a lunch will be provided.
