No Kidding! Maine CUs connect with Maine's youth


Many Maine credit unions are taking the well-known phrase, "Our children are our future," to heart in a variety of ways.  From hosting kids at credit union branches on a regular basis to providing a head start to elementary school students with funds for college and a variety of other outreach, Maine credit unions are investing in and supporting Maine's younger population.

cPort CU

For the tenth consecutive year, cPort CU presented college scholarships to elementary students to help give them a head start.  Since it started, the program has expanded to elementary schools in Portland, Augusta and Scarborough.  Pictured here are scholarship recipients at Presumpscot Elementary School in Portland.

Taconnet FCU

Taconnet FCU's President/CEO Karen Denis presents a check for a $5,000 scholarship to the 2017 winner of Taconnet FCU's Trek for Success.  In total, the CU awarded $9,000 in scholarship funds to high school students through the 2017 Trek.

Atlantic FCU

Near the end of the recent school year, Atlantic FCU hosted students from the Mabel Wilson School in Cumberland for learning and fun at its Cumberland branch.

Gardiner FCU

Making sure there is no summer reading slide for kids, Gardiner FCU is hosting a weekly summer reading time and children's craft hour at Gardiner Public Library all summer.  The CU's Kelly Marie is showing some of the books she will read to kids this summer.

NorState FCU
