Currently, the Maine Credit Union League supports three Credit Union Councils - the Marketing; Financial Literacy; and Human Resources.  Combined, these three Councils have nearly 150 members from nearly all credit unions in Maine.  A new Maine CU Lending Council is coming soon with more information to follow.  With the arrival of 2016, the Councils introduced new logos to reflect an updated brand for each Council that all align with the League brand.  "We wanted to develop logos that were more consistent with the League brand, and the new logos certainly reflect that consistency," explained Debra Trautman, Vice President of Corporate Marketing for the Maine CU League.

Throughout the year, each Council will hold various workshops, webinars and conferences designed to provide knowledge and networking to its members.  "Part of the benefit to belonging to any of the Councils is the opportunity to meet peers from other credit unions and to exchange ideas and information," added Trautman.

The Maine CU Financial Literacy Council held the first Council workshop of the new year at the end of January with a session focused on how credit unions can attract and work with refugees and immigrants.  The Maine CU Marketing Council recently sent out a Save-the-Date announcement regarding its Spring Leadership Conference Spring on Wednesday, April 13, at the Portland Harbor Hotel. The program will feature Loren Hudziak from Google, and two other speakers, as well.  The Maine CU HR Council will be announcing its first session shortly, too.

"The Councils bring a lot of great ideas to help credit unions collaborate and cooperate, and remain connected to each other.  They are a valuable part of the credit union system in Maine.  With the addition of the Maine CU Lending Council, we look forward to connecting more credit union participants with resources through our Councils," noted John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League.
